    A shortarm is generally 9" throat and a longarm starts at 18" up to 30" throat. You can actually do alot more with a longarm and its so much easier that quilting on a domestic machine.

    What machine do you use with your New Joy quilt frame? I also have one and I use Janome 1600P machine with it.
