That age old statement "Quilt as desired" is driving me crazy. I have a older quilt top I purchased that I am trying to quilt. Since it is a back woods theme to the quilt I quilted bear paw prints on the bear paws, put an eagle in the sky and plan to put two bear at the base of the tree. But what to do with the tree? Any suggestions?

You could quilt in a tree with branches or continuous curves.

As for the quilt as desired statement, that bugs me too. I copy the quilt or at least the blocks. Depending upon the colors in the blocks you can either copy the blocks in b&w at the copy store , or draw than out on paper. You can now draw your ideas right on the paper block. You can also get the clear tablecloth vinyl and place it over your quilt block. Draw on the plastic with a dry erase marker... take care with the markers though.

I like the tree idea. Someone also said to do leaves and another said to put things in it that would be in a tree. I think that is too much for this quilt. With the blue triangles as leaves all I need is the trunk and some branches. Thanks a lot!
