Smile What quilting design works well around a monogram?

Here is the center block of the baby quilt I am making. I am unsure of how to quilt around the monogram? I don't want the quilt to be stiff with dense quilting...any ideas? Thanks for your help.

Ps. The darker peach border will have cherries quilted. I am asking just about the lighter peach background around the monogram.

There are sooo many choices for the border, but for the center I'd do something like this

You could do a simple stipple to make the background lie a little flatter than the monogram and the monogram will pop up just a tad.

I love Quiltnan's Idea since you do not want it quilted to tightly.

My first choice would be to outline the letters and then stipple the background to make the letters pop and to remove any wrinkles around the letters. Since you want a softer look, I might follow the outline of the center letters about 1/2 inch out and then continues that outline every 1/2 inch out until it reached the frame. Kind of like ripples on water.

Beautiful monogram and love the fabric you have around it. I really like the idea that QuiltnNan drew out for you. It isn't too much quilting so should not be too stiff.

You could echo the letters. If you keep your lines about an inch apart that will keep it from getting too stiff.

I would go with something light and airy, not too dense. like a loopy meander or similar.

Thanks everyone for taking time to draw out ideas for a quilting motif. It was super nice of you to help me with the options. I am going to practice on a sample scrap and test them out!

Default rough draft of heart design I like so far

My daughter wanted hearts around the monogram. The monogram is centered in a 12" square, however the top and bottom have more space than the sides. This design with the hearts works well so far. Thanks for your input and ideas!
