Loretta
no this is it. I know there is a big difference in the time period for planting and harvesting here than in the north. we will plant again in Sept. or Oct. What we plant mostly is called Hard red winter wheat. I think in the north the planting is done in the spring and harvesting in the fall.

Melissa, I can certainly identify with you. I also live in central Oklahoma and was raised on a farm. Your pictures bring back wonderful memories. Thank you for posting them

My DH has been working down around Madill for the last few months, so he is real familiar with your area!

Hi Melissa! I've been enjoying sending private messages to you today, and I finally moved over to the forum and saw your pictures that you've also posted today! My husband says, "wow, does that bring back memories!" He grew up on a farm south of Elk City and always helped with the wheat harvest. He and his Dad even traveled north to help with commercial harvesting throughout the summer. That was back in the 50's - he left the farm and got his degree in electrical engineering at Oklahoma State University.

I've wondered about some type of quilt pattern to showcase the life of a wheat farmer... and they also raised cattle.

We'll pray for the weather to hold until you finish cutting all that wheat!

Sara, would love to see what you come up with for a quilt on wheat farmers! That is an awsome idea!

Great pictures Melissa, Emilys dad is a farmer but harvest here isn't till the fall. Right now we just pray for dry weather for the crops and to get the hay up.
