I have been wanting to make a denim quilt for a while now and I had no idea how I was going to do it. So I left the design up to a dear friend and told her that what ever she came up with that was what it was going to be!

She told me that it should be a mixture of cotton fabrics and the denim and we both had the idea of a Red and White Plaid fabric for the design. I was out thrift store shopping and found this pretty Red fabric that looked like something she would use and bought it, 6 yards for $2!! After I showed her the photo of the fabric I found she said that would be the exact kind of print that she would have picked!

She said that it had a picnic in the hay loft kinda feel to it and I will have to agree.

And this is what we came up with.......

The funny thing about it is that I cobbled a Singer 66 together from 3 parts machines and that is the machine I am using to make the quilt with. It sews through the denim like it is nothing at all and there are layered seams all in it.

I am really excited about this quilt and I think it will be gorgeous when it is finished. I can only work on it in the evenings and the weekends after business hours so it might take a while to finish it.

But I only have 71 more blocks to make!!

The block is beautiful! but why do you have to use a print as well as the denim? Is it to make a pattern -or pieces show?

I wish I had a thrift store that good!

Talk to the designer I am only the guy putting it together!! :D

I think it is just what she preferred and I really like the mix of color. She has an eye for what works with what and she likes to think outside of the box. To me she is the greatest!
