SO much better than a box full of rags, eh? It feels good to have everything ready to go! Check out Bonnie Hunter's Quiltville site. She has a chart of free quilt patterns that use different size blocks and strips. You can easily find some pretty quilts to make with what you have cut.

http://quiltville.com/pdf/FreePatternsbyStripSize.pdf

Her free patterns referred to on the chart are found here:
http://quiltville.blogspot.com/p/free-patterns.html
just click on the quilt for the pattern.

What kind of "preparation" is needed to use the cutter? Must you press and starch the fabric before cutting?

Lots of nice and funny comments on this thread! Thank you all.

kaylfordsollimo, I do press the fabrics before cutting, and I use a little Mary Ellen's Best Press on them. I find it just makes them a bit easier to cut using the AccuQuilt, and the prep time is minimal.

I do this when I finish a project. I cut the remains into usable sizes and store in plastic shoe boxes that are labeled. I am working to use up my mini scraps on a quilt. I have lots of people who give me their junk, not to me, and I use them up. I want to finish up some of my UFO's and work on a pattern quilt. Hopefully soon.

Just finished cutting all my latest scraps up last week and then happened to wander into a local thrift shop during the week. Got a bag of cotton patchwork leftovers for $1! Couldn't wait to get home and sort them all out and see what I had scored...I was delighted to find, as well as heaps of usable scraps 2 beautiful fat quarters that still had their labels on them! Score to me!!! Happy dancing!!

I so need to get my scraps under control. This is a project that has been on my to-do list for months. Congraulations on getting your scraps organized.

I tried cutting up some scraps and used a method given in a book from library. Cutting into 2",3" and 5" squares. The pattern the book gave looked nice enough but now I'm trying to find a background fabric that will semi match the squares I have colour wise. I tried one of the blocks they said would work but after its sewn I have to cut it down, didn't I just cut a mess of fabric. Think I'm going to try another pattern. Not really pleased with what I have done and hope something can come of the hours I've spent cutting.
