I did just that same thing when I was making my bow tuck purse. I was over at my mom's and was sewing away and was a bit tired and thought that I had taken out the next pen and when I was done with the top seam I go to turn it and what do I see in the seam but my flower head pen sewed into the seam. I laughed so hard that I was crying and of course everyone else asked what in the world was I laughing so hard about and when I showed them they laughed along with me.
Another story about why you don't sew over pens...I was sewing some block with my Bernina and was going along and completely forgot about the stupid pen that was still in my block and was sewing along and then.....POP, my needle hits the pen..... the neelde broke and the pen was bent in half. I still have that pen just to remind me that that is why I need to make sure that my pen is out before I get to it with my nice little sewing work horse.

I did the same thing recently! It was also a flowerhead pin and I did not think it was possible to do without breaking a needle...until I did it. I usually don't sew over pins but I was making the "Snap Happy" purse and didn't realize I had left a pin in place when I turned it inside out.
