OK I am in need of constructive criticism on these colors and on anything ya'll think might be helpful. This project is still a long way out. Thanks

I guess it depends on the end result you are seeking. I like the colours you are using and if you are showcasing the quilting rather than fussing with details on the blocks, the solids will be great. If that is not your intention maybe some fabric with subtle patterning could be used sparingly on the block..for example on the wing area of the mockingbird, or a sky print for the background on another. Just maybe one "pattern" per block, just so it doesn't get too busy. Anyway, just thought I'd share my idea, as a lone quilter I don't get to do much "brainstorming" unless I stop by the board.

Look forward to seeing more blocks.

I agree with earthwalker from Australia. If you want to showcase the mickingbirds you could add movement with some subtle patterns in the bird itself. If you are going to shadow the bird shape that could look like the wind moving past it. Nice work.

That's great! I have a mockingbird that visits my yard and entertains me! It's also the MS state bird--it's very popular!
