For those of you who haven't been keeping up with this, it is for my DDIL who asked for something made with the rest of her silk from the wedding gown I made her 20 years ago. The white around the edge is from her gown, the rest of the silk I have been collecting. When I saw the twister pattern I decided that was what I wanted to do. The batting is silk/bamboo. The backing is silk/rayon velvet.

I haven't seen a total silk quilt ever, this is stunning you did a wonderful job.

That was hard work with all those slippery fabrics but so beautiful I wish I can put my hand on it just to get the feeling.

Brilliant! Your DDIL is sooooo fortunate and you are too to have that wonderful relationship with her. God bless you both. I think I should say God Bless you ALL. Hope and pray things improve with your other DIL.

Well, folks, just let me say...This was a challenge in many ways. Yes, I have experience sewing on silk, and I have experience sewing on velvet. I have limited experience quilting. But to combine all three was a new thing for me. I have always loved a challenge. When I was a kid if someone said, "I bet you can't...." then I did whatever that was, much to the chagrin of my parents. I am trying to stretch my capabilities, and expand my ideas into reality. When I was just starting out with the embroidery machine, my DDIL (yes, the same one) mentioned she would like a shower curtain with undersea creatures on it. So I made her one for the kids bathroom. I don't have any digital pics of it. But I am now an EXPERT at machine embroidery. You too can do all those things you have been wanting to try. Go ahead, I dare you....

Well, that won't happen, but thanks anyway. My son loves her and that is all that matters.
