    I followed this pattern at this link:

    .....but didn't like the pattern so I appliqued over it what I wanted the thread portion to look like. Only one of the blocks is foundation pieced so after doing that one, I just threw the pattern out and winged it from then on which is why I call it 'wonky wonky' spools because they really are now!

    I like the fact that you either see the dark spool or the light one depending on which fabric you look at!! I mixed new fabs with vintage for a uniqueness. The blocks finish at 3" and the mini is exactly 8" square. Coincidentally, it's the exact same size as my previous mini of Wonky Crosses! I couldn't have planned it to come out exactly any better! This one is a gift and I'll show 'before' and 'after' pics so you can see the transformation. Hope you enjoy my revised version! :D

    Although I like both of them, your version really gives the spool a definition not in the first! As usual great job, n2! G
