Very nice work. I had a wool blanket that had some holes that needed patching. I went to the thrift store and bought some 100% wool sweaters in the colors I wanted; washed them in hot water and dried on the hottest dryer setting and ended up with felted wool that was perfect for making the appliques to mend the holes. And there's a lot of left-overs for a lot more appliques.

I frequent Saver's and other thrift shops buying up wool skirts, wool scarfs, anything 100% wool, for my supply of wool. Once in a while I will buy a kit, however cost is becoming a problem.

i have purchased from primitive gatherings...they have great kits; as does rachels of greenfield...their phone personnel are wonderful...they have some cute felt christmas kits with ornaments if you want something small for on the go...i have several of these bagged up, ready to grab when im off for dr appts or just in front on tv time...they are very generous with the supplies...i also pick up woolen items at my local thrift shop...lately there has been a run on winter scarfs..its a great size, giving variety of patterns and a cheap price..some have been as low as 50 cents...mens old blazers work great also...but have a lot of fabric..i need to find a trade group, but my quilters dont share my felting interests...good luck

A friend of mine bought several wool pieces of clothing at a thrift store, cut it apart, then washed the wool and used it for her applique with great results. I haven't tried it, but it would definately be less expensive.....just a thought.
