WoooHooo! I won ribbons at the local quilt show!

koko, the flying geese were made using the second method here: http://www.connectingthreads.com/tut...hods__D15.html. It makes 4 geese at a time and goes fairly quickly with no wasted triangles. I made them slightly oversized and trimmed EACH AND EVERY ONE! And I did have a small pile of "rejects" that I will use in a non-show quilt of some sort.

The quilt wasn't hard to do. As I mentioned above, I used the 4-at-a-time method to make the flying geese. Also, I made plastic templates for the odd shaped triangles, cut my background fabric in strips wide enough for the shapes, used a pencil to lightly trace around the plastic on the back on one fabric strip, then stacked several strips and used my ruler and rotary cutter to cut multiples at one time.
One change I made was to the flying geese in the border. I made them like the geese in the body of the quilt instead of "negative" geese. It really is a fun quilt to make and goes quickly because the star blocks are so large.

Well of course you won....I'd think something was wrong and the show was "fixed" if you didn't! .....congratulations...it's a beautiful quilt. Every aspect is lovely from piecing, to colors to the quilting. It's really inspiring....and oh how I wish I could copy it before July 4th this year.....

Congratulations - they knew a good thing when they saw it. It's a gorgeous quilt and I think you have mastered feather stitches. Beautiful and congratulations again. You should be very proud of your efforts.
