Larisa Bland has a book called "Piece in the Hoop". The book comes with a CD that has around 40 embroidery designs. The embroidery designs are mostly of different blocks she uses in the projects of the book.

I would describe piecing in the hoop like paper piecing for the embroidery machine. She suggests using a wash away stabilizer, then adding your pieces. After you're done, you can wash away the stabilizer and end up with a really nice block.

She has several other designs available that are not in the book, but they are available at her website along with a tutorial, I believe. http://www.pieceinthehoop.com

I've enjoyed all of the projects I've done so far of hers.
