Isn't this a great method for accurate HSTs? I have some piles that looked like that.

Impressive! Can't wait to see what you'll be doing with them.

Ok, let's say you cut them perfectly and you were careful sewing them. Where did this extra stuff that you had to cut off come from? I am absolutely stuck on my quarter inch seam. I just can't get past being off in both directions all the time. It's good to hear that others are "off" too, but where is it coming from? Stretching during sewing?

when the pattern says to cut the triangles 2 7/8, i cut them at 3" squares. I draw the line in the center, sew one of each color face to face 1/4" each side of the line, then cut down the center. press them open and square up to the 2" finished, 2 1/2 unfinished - perfect every time

I like to use the method that allows me to make 8 at a time, but I also make the squares just a bit bigger and square up each one so that they are just right for assembly.

Same here. you had mentioned it a while back and I never forgot it. Looks great. [QUOTE=QuiltnNan;7715913]when the pattern says to cut the triangles 2 7/8, i cut them at 3" squares. That is the part I hate doing, and you should be proud that you didn't have to discard any, that would not be me, that's why I always make extra.. can't wait to see it when it is all done, make sure you post some pictures of it..

Those look good. Please share the finished project. I get trimmings like that also.
