Wow! I think if there was a contest on good deals - you'd be the winner or at least the top 5!
    Great find!

Good deal! I picked up a Singer 15-91 and a 66-16 both on CL last month for a great price also. I love the 15-91. I would watch Craigslist for a Commercial Singer. In my area there are always several listed at a great price.

I recently procured a Free Westinghouse off of Freecycle - for free! - with cabinet. It works like a trooper. I hope you enjoy your great find.

Before we got to this post, my DH told me it was a 15-91. We collect old Singers and I think they are beautiful. We just haven't found any great deals like you did. Congratulations. You will enjoy.

If you haven't already, you may want to check the Singer serial number here: http://www.singerco.com/support/serial_2letter.html I'm fairly new at identifing the vintage Singers, but that might be a Singer 15 rather than a 66. I just got one from a friend & will be using it for my FMQ machine, partly because you can lower the feed dogs on the 15. (Don't know about that on the 66)
I went to the site, at first i thought it was a 176 but when i found the book yea, no...I am almost positive that it is a 66 if i am looking at the numbers correctly. Now i have to find out what Free Westinghouse i have. Funny thing is that the repair guy told me to scap the Free Westinghouse, because it is a pain machine..I think it is beautiful. I think it was made around the 20's, which means even if i never sew on it, it is almost a 100 years old and is a great addition to my sewing (soon to be) room.
Edit- i stand corrected, it looks identical to the 15-91 thank you for pointing it out to me =)

Your Singer looks like the one I learned to sew on sometime in the previous century. :) It had a green cardboard attachment box, but the cabinet wasn't as fancy as yours, just a swinging door with place for attachments and thread on the side. Do you know the date of your machine?
The old Singer stitched like a dream. My mom even used metallic thread to quilt a vest. She had no problem with the thread breaking. I did one on a new "fancy" machine and my thread broke like crazy.
