Thank you for enlarging yours and giving us the measurements. I did my 1st one and wanting a block in it(d4patch), so it ended up 8x11 3/4". I did the 5x8 but sewed 2" from the unfin. edge so spoon would be near the edge, not the inside. I used flannel, not batting and made the back 1 1/2" larger so could bring to front and bind down with a fancy stitch. Used the chicadee quilt pattern from embroidery library to quilt it on my embroidery machine. Will probably do a few more of these, then make some placemats 12x17. Thanks to all who have shared their mug rug pics and directions here on the board. You are an inspiration.
