I use matching thread when quilting these, but I'm sure invisible thread would work also. I've never used invisible thread! Guess I should "stretch" myself and try it sometime!
i do not fuse the little pieces. After they are placed where I want, the whole piece is covered with tulle, pinned heavily, and then I FMQ it.

The little pieces are not fused. They are "sprinkled/placed" where I want them and when I am satisfied with the whole picture, I place dark colored tulle over the entire piece and quilt it. There are some instructions on the Internet and YouTube regarding this process. It's a great way to use little scraps. Batiks work really well because they are the same color on both sides. I have baggies full of different colors all ready to go! It's so much fun!
