By placing the fabrics that way you have created beautiful lanterns. They just "pop" on the black background.
Love the quilting. By following the shape it enhances the lanterns.

I especially love the quilting in the lanterns. The fabric colors pop on the black. whenever I use black, my white batting pulls through the needle holes and leaves white "dust" on the black fabric. But not yours! Yours is gorgeous!
