hi there--
i have never used color catchers before but have a lot of red fabric to wash...it is LQS but red makes me nervous....is there a brand you do/do not recommend for the color catchers????thanks! |
Shout and Carbone both make color catchers or color grabbers and they've worked out well for me. May in Jersey

I use the Shout color catchers. Did a red/black/white quilt. I washed a quilt that had a red bleed in that I hadn't noticed before putting it together. Took all the red out. Just use 1 or 2 extra sheets when washing red or black fabrics.

shout color catchers proven to work in my house. I have had them come out of the washer purple and a very dark pink, scares me to think what would have happened if I hadn't used them. I swear by them

I use shout color catchers. LOVE THEM!!
|
I bought some Retayne - haven't used it yet but I think it was recommended by someone on this board.
|
I use the shout color catcher sheets also. I don't have any complaints so far :)

All I can get is Shout and they work great.

Just be aware, a color catcher will ONLY keep bleeds or excess dye from settling on other fabrics in the wash. They will not set dyes. So if you have a bleeder fabric it will still continue to bleed even after washing with a Shout Color Catcher. To set dyes you need to prewash in a product called Retayne. You may be able to find it at your LQS but best bet is to buy it on line.

Shout are the only brand I have used so far and they worked great.
