The lack of rain this spring is seriously affecting the wildflowers. But on a visit last week to the Rockport area last week, I photographed a few beauties I thought I'd share. We were hoping to see whooping cranes, but apparently missed them by a few days. I keep thinking there is a quilt in some of these photos.
Bluebonnets and Mexican Firewheels shared space at the edge of the bay. They even grew beneath a palm tree. These butterflies were plentiful. A prickly poppy looks rather delicate, but grow profusely. I love the way the flowers crowd near a bunch of cacti. Oh thank you thank you - they're such a treat especially since we still have snow on the ground!

It will be awhile before any of my spring flowers poke their heads out. Still snow around here, also.

We're having to water daily to keep the flowers in my yard blooming, but I got tired of winter pretty quickly this year. The birds along the coast were gorgeous. My favorite: a white mockingbird, apparently not a true albino, but pretty enough to make us stop the car and watch it chasing bugs in a field.

I love the bumble bee on the thistle bloom

Rockport is close to me and still getting their flowers - most of them in Corpus are whithering away - between the high winds and the sun/heat! Wish we would get a day of rain to bring them back!

Beautiful, but the drought is becoming quite serious all over Texas. They say it's going to continue right into Summer. I'll take the drought, just pray for all the ones losing their homes to fires in West Texas...

Oh Marymm - Excellent photos - like your DOF. They bring back memories of the years I lived in San Antonio. Have you thought about putting these shots into a quilt like several of us on the Board have done?
