I was at the local LA and a customer brought in a quilt that I havent seen the pattern for before. She said it was Square Dance and she found it in a bbok but couldnt remember the name of. Can anyone help me find the pattern, I have searched and still cant find it.
It was all 2 1/2 inch squares, lights and darks almost in a diamond patterns. |
I had a bit of a look and the images that come up for square dance look very similar to quilts made using the twister tool.
Was it like this? http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-89412-1.htm |
If you google 'square dance quilt pattern' you get several block that are completely different. May be you recognise one of them?

Faster yet, do a Google image search for Square Dance Quilt. You can then find the sites that have photos that match what you saw.

Bonnie, that looks like its made with 2 1/2" X 4 1/2" strips with a 2 1/2" square at one end stitched to make a triangle . sew two of these together (opposite direction) to make a square, that looks like its the only block, just twist it around.
Clear as mud?

Interesting. I found a pattern in my files called "Square Dance" and it isn't like any of these. It is created by Bits 'n Pieces and made with simple 5" squares and 4-patches. Could this be the one? PM me if you'd like more information.

That's easy peasy.
Looks like it's made up of a bunch of 9 or 16-patch blocks. As long as you have good contrast between your lights and darks, that will be a successful quilt. And portions of it can be done with strip piecing. Give me a moment...... |
It looks like Bonnie Hunter's free pattern. on Quiltville.com. I'll have a look through to see if I can find it.
