I went to yet another WalMart in Baton Rouge and a nice lady was doing something in the crafts department. I asked her if this WalMart was going to get bolt fabric back and she said yes indeed. She said "you and your friends must have been calling and writing. I told everyone to call and write. "They" told us no one was buying fabric, and I told them that isn't the case". She was so nice and said that all the WalMarts would be getting fabric back. Not just in Baton Rouge. I'm not sure if that is really the case, but, at least that one in Baton Rouge (behind Cortana Mall) will be. She said she couldn't tell me when, but would be sooner than I think. I also said I've heard that when fabric comes back, there aren't people who know how to cut it. She said, well, I know how to cut and so do the other ladies who work here. She said she would look forward to cutting my fabric. Such a nice experience. I'll check back there to see when it happens. :D

Talked to the lady in my WalMart that used to work in fabrics when we had some. She told me ours would get it back after they remodeled the store next year.

I am so glad! The Cortana WM had the best fabric (back when).

Ours is a brand new store (opened last October). I wonder if it will be getting fabric in again. The old store had it but got rid of it a while before they closed.

The precuts have been on sale now for several weeks. Hopefully, I'll be seeing some bolts soon.

I really think WalMart discoverd that there was still a demographic out there who buys fabric and enjoys saving money to. I think the fabric depts. will come into each of the WalMarts as they do updating and remodels on stores. That is how it happend here. I am proud to say since sending email that there was never anyone around the craft/fabric dept. to cut the fabric, you can always find someone close by now. Just one or two ailse away from the cutting area. You will enjoy the new dept. when it gets there.

Out here the walmart would really benefit from it. Joann's just closed and now people have to drive an hour for any fabric. Bad enough for us adults but for school and 4H projects it might be a hardship for some parents to drive so far.

The 2 Wal-Marts closest to me have never discontinued their fabric but this year both have gotten slightly smaller. The fabrics that were $3.50 & 3.97 are mostly $5.95+ now. The broadcloth they had at 1.97 is $3 and too thin to use as quilt backing. I do look there for my backing but with the LSQ selling 108" wide for $12.99 that usually comes out cheaper. However I will admit I do look everytime I am there. I was glad to see warm and natural batting is half the price per yard of Joann's. Our Joann's here has surpassed the LQS price on a lot of things so I avoid them plus they are a 30-40 minute drive for me. The batiks last week were $12.99 a yard at Joann's and $9.99 & 10.99 at LQS.

Good for you

Joann's I think are out pricing themselves, there not a quilt store and if Im going to pay the big bucks Im going to get good fabric plus support the quilt store
