I'm always making something to give as gifts. Now I'm thinking about the holidays and I just don't know what would really be used or needed by my quilting friends. I need suggestions. What would you like to receive hand made as a gift?

I absolutely love little zipper or snap bags of various sizes. . I got some one year that were clear on one side. I use them for traveling.

Needle cases are good too. You can quilt the covers for the bigger ones. I have a bigger one with a big variety of needles (I hand sew everything), and then a tiny one which just holds two sets of betweens (9s and large eye 11s), which fits into the little tupperware box I use for my hand-quilting kit. I originally used felt for the inside, but for the little one I just lined it with flannel and that works nicely too.

LOL... that wouldnt be a gift at all it would be a miracle here at my house!!! lol..

You know I dont think it would make a difference as to what the gift was. it would be appreciated just for the reason that you took the time to make a gift and send it to someone. But hey thats just MHO...

I know a wallet is kind of personal and some people have certain criteria about wallets but I think that would be nice. Or those round bags with the little compartments. The fold up tote thing with spaces for pattern and threads scissors, everything you need to take to class or guild. Ladies in my guild carry them a lot. Some have holders they made for their Grandmothers fan plastic pieces. Use one on each end and the plastic pieces sit inside like poker chips. I have a thing that goes over the arm of the chair that I carry with me. I has pockets on each end and a pincushion in the middle with magnetic strips beside the pincusion. I got it as a Christmas present and she filled it with folding scissors, folding seam ripper, silk thread and a needle threader. I love it. I usually wrap my gift for quilt guild in a piece of fabric too. That way they get an extra gift. I pin it together then wrap a ribbon around to hold it together, then I take the pins out so no one gets stuck. They love the idea at guild.
