Our new puppy!

Hi everyone, at the weekend we went up to Lincolnshire (in the north east of England - we live in the south west!) to choose our puppy. We have been on a waiting list for one of these since early this year as they are not common in the UK. But we met one locally and were hooked. It is a hunt, point, retrieve breed, I believe they are also used in the USA. My DH shoots so our pup will go out with him when he's old enough - ie next season. But primarily he will be a family dog. When he's old enough I will try him at agility as well which is something I used to enjoy years ago with the border collie I had then! Anyway, he will be called Sirius after the Dog Star and we can go back in two weeks to collect him - I can hardly wait! He is now my avatar picture and I have put more pictures of him on my blog. Thanks for letting me share - I'm so excited! :)

is he a pionter or what? glad you went to see puppies/parents ,Lincolnshire is now quite a puppy farming area---cheaper properties and in isolation. hope he goes well.

Lucky you, he is so cute. There is nothing like a puppy in the house, I'm sure you will all have a ball with him.
Great name too:thumbup:

He's a Large Munsterlander, an HPR (hunt, point, retrieve) breed. His Sire is owned by the chairperson of the Large Munsterlander Breeders association and she was there as well to meet us. This is definitely NOT one of those puppy farms, I wouldn't give them the time of day. These pups are from KC registered and health checked parents - we met the mother dog (obviously) and a gentleman had brought his bitch who is our pup's full sister from an earlier litter for us to meet as well. Sorry if I sound forceful, and obviously you don't know me, but there's no way I'd buy a pup from a disreputable place - I've had dogs all my life and have done my research. :)
