Kona Solids

There is a great sale at one of my LQS's and I bought fabrics needed to complete projects. This is not the first time I buy Kona Solids and each time I use them I think how much I really really like working with this fabric. Who all have used Kona Solids? How do you like it?

I consider it a 'sturdy' fabric - I think it's unwieldy for detailed applique work.

I love the Kona solids. I am making a "modern" quilt using them and love the feel and look of them. I am taking a class on modern quilting and think I will be purchasing more and more Kona solids. They work perfect with modern quilting.

I keep at least 2 yds of 5-6 Konas for certain projects. Like Bearisgray it is sturdy and sometimes harder to use when appliquing. But great fabric for borders and sashing.
Of course, no offense, but Moda solids are my favorite overall solid to use for backing, etc.

MODA is also my ALL TIME FAVORITE but they did not have the colors I needed in Moda..:(

I also prefer Moda, but Kona is definitely good. For applique, I prefer batiks.

I love Kona solids
Buy them from fabric.com

In the past, I noticed that there was dye lot variation in the colors. That may not be so any more - but it's a good idea to get as much as you need of one color from the same bolt.

I use Kona white quite a bit. Compared to some fabrics .. its has a really nice weight.

That's still true...sometimes it's very different indeed. My new favorites are RJR Cotton Supreme and P&B Color Spectrum. Both have a much nicer hand than Kona, as does Moda Bella.
