Anyone have the pfaff expressions 4.0?

I need help with tension.

I have the pfaff expressions 2, but my owner's manual includes the 4. Could I look something up for you?

I have my manual I just don't understand what to do I guess, I need to take the class on it and just haven't when I sew thread is almost like it is set to gather? I don't know how to correct it.

I have my tension set on 5, if that happens to help. I just looked at the 4. part of my manual, and I don't see anything about tension. Makes it look like it is automatic, I think.

Perhaps someone who actually has a 4. will be around soon to help. It's no fun when things don't work...

why don't you call your dealer - they will probably be able to help

Hmmmm, I think you maybe should rethread. I am not near my machine so cant really help too much, but have never had to touch the tension

another thought... at the top of machine, make sure you are using the tension disc...not the bobbin threading...there is a tiny raised diagram right beside the disc...the top groove is for bobbin loading and the bottom groove for needle thread...do you see it? are you using the right one? I have slipped my thread into the wrong one before.

I haven't had my machine for long but I have never had to mess with the tension adjustment.

I had to return my first QE4 (bought in November) as I could not get the tension right for FMQ - the bobbin thread kept skipping and snapping. It was replaced in February with a new machine and at first everything was great. However when I tried to FMQ with rayon last week (something I've done a lot of on my Janome) I couldn't get it right. This time the top thread kept snapping!
Although the thension is supposed to be automatic, I think this is only true for 50 wt cotton.........

When I first started on a medication I thought I could sew. I did. Only I never put much energy into threading the top of the machine. No one could understand why my tension was always off. That is til a classmate visited and I saw her put the thread in the tension discs. I had just been laying the thread there, thus it was never between the tension discs.

Too funny. that is it is funny now. I found I had to completely redo all the seams of the top I had tried to sew. together.
