When OCD meets Scrappy

I got to spend a lot of time in the Mom Cave over the past few days - helps that Gus is away at camp, so I'm not falling over him. The Corgis do a great job of that... I'm continuing work on my Bonnie Hunter quilt discussed here:
http://www.quiltingboard.com/picture...s-t248555.html

I finished the pinwheels for the centers of the stars, finished the half square triangles for the corners of the star blocks - 180 HSTs sewn in one night... and then on Saturday, cut 16 more HSTs because I cut too many red and not enough yellow (Bonnie actually warned us that someone in class would sew the wrong color on - I took it on a different trail and cut the wrong color). And I finished the star points for the 11 remaining yellow star blocks. All that is left to cut/sew is the star points for the 16 red star blocks and the points for the border.

The OCD comes in when one tries to make sure that no fabrics are repeated in the 28 pinwheels and that no sets of fabrics are repeated their either. And then trying to ensure that the 8 star points in each block are different, as well as the four corners and that this isn't repeated in blocks... Do you see where in the road to crazy-making this is going... The last picture has a pin wheel, four star points and four corners. Next step is to see if I can arrange it so that the right pieces are in each block while I chain piece.

When I assembled the pinwheels on Saturday, after each joined pair of HST's I sewed on a star point - so by the time the pinwheels were done, I had most of the star points done as well.

While cutting, sewing and pressing, I watched 2 Men in Black, 3 Pirates of the Caribbean, and 2 Sherlock Holmes - plus started on Frozen. There may have been one or two others thrown in for good measure.

Cheers, K

I identify with you CorgiNole! I love the saying about being a perfectionist with OCD and ADD... everything has to be perfect, but not for very long! That describes ME! ROFL! Just hang in there, and remember that every piece you cut "extra" of can be used in a different project down the road. Scrappy is "magic" that way! And what you've done so far is beautiful!

Your blocks are beautiful and you do great work!

I can relate to the OCD and what you are doing with the pinwheels.

However - if you do happen to "miss" one set and get a duplicate - you can say that you are testing your observers' powers of observation!
