thoughts on favorite shops in Ohio, Michigan and Pennsylvania

So, I'm leaving for Ohio in 13 days (but who is counting?!). Grove City. We are traveling up through Michigan to Mackinac Island, back to Grove City, then on to Hershey Pennsylvania and back to Ohio through Pennsylvania Amish country. Does anyone have any favorite stores (with relatively good prices) that they can recommend? Two years ago when I went back, we went from Ohio up to Frankenmuth, Michigan (oh my gosh, the Christmas store was amazing!!) and hit a few LQS. I thought their prices were awfully high. Don't get me wrong, I still bought enough fabric to have to have it FedExed home, but a lot of the fabric ended up being from Hobby Lobby!

I suggest you pick of The Country Register which is free in most quilt shops. The quilting store in Indian River has good prices on moda fabrics. Delphines in Gaylord. Both shops are along I 75. Gloria B's in St. Ignace if you go across the bridge ( small shop outside of town but nice people). Most places have about the same prices-pricey. Renees House of Quilting in Williamsburg has an amazing amount of great fabrics but at the top of the line in cost. She's really nice Don't know much about the shops downstate but several in the grand rapids area are nice.

Oh my! If you go to Lancaster County, there are so many! You will be in Hershey, so go east on 422 and you will find Martin's Craft Barn (Lebanon, I think). Their fabrics are really nice/prices pretty good. There is another great shop, called Weaver's Dry Goods, on Brubaker Valley Road in Lititz which has a vast array sorted by manufacturer and topic. prices are good, plus the lower level has reduced prices. Also there is Stitch n'Craft in Manheim and Piece by Piece Quilt Shop in Ephrata. Have fun and hope this helps.

I would also recommend The Fabric Shack in Waynesville, OH and my other favorite store is Miller's Dry Goods in Charm, OH in the heart of Ohio Amish Country (Holmes County.) There are a couple of other fabric stores in Berlin, just up the road from Miller's.

When you say you are going to PA Amish Country, do you mean Lancaster County? If so, be sure to go to The Quilt Shack, 3137 Old Philadelphia Pike in Bird-in-Hand, PA. The owners are so nice and the prices are great. Let us know what shops you actually get to visit. Have a great vacation!

There is a shop in East Lansing Michigan a bit south of the the intersection of US 127 and I 69 called Country Stitches. It is a large shop and has one of the largest sale fabric areas that I've seen in a quilt shop. They also have lots of samples of neat things to make and a huge selection of batiks. If you are taking I75 north to go to Mackinaw then this would not be on your way but you could easily take US 127 North up through the center of Michigan and it is right off the expressway (127) on Lake Lansing Road. Just pick up I96 coming out of Detroit toward Lansing then I496/US127 North and US127 to the Country Stitches.

Also, if you have a smart phone, there is a great app called "Quilt Shops" and it will show you where all of the quilt and fabric shops are everywhere in the country. It will show you what's nearest to you at all times.:D

There is a shop in Bettsville Ohio that I want to visit next time I am in that area - The Doormouse. About 15 miles off the turnpike southwest of Fremont Ohio.
I couldn't get my hubby to stop last time :(

I have no idea what their prices are like.

But in Berlin Ohio Zincks has lots of fabric at discounted prices!
