fleece as backing?

Do you ladies think that fleece is a good backing, this is for a 10 year old's quilt. I want to make sure it's not too fuzzy and would mess yo my machine, or be difficult to quilt by machine. Thanks

I frequently use fleece, especially on lap quilts. In fact I cheat and don't use batting which makes it nice and light weight but still snuggly.

Sure! Works great and is so cuddly! I don't use batting when I use fleece.

I am using it more and more, cheaper, more snuggly and easy to quilt!

Thanks! That's exactly what I was hoping to hear. I won't use batting either. What method of batting works well with fleece? I usually pin, didn't have success with elmer's glue when I tried it.

Yes, use fleece. It's no fuzzier than flannel. You probably also want to use a walking foot. A 10 year old will love the fleece backing.

I have not done a fleece-backed quilt but would like to because it sounds so cozy. How far apart do you quilt it when doing it this way?

I love using fleece for a backing.. quilt great too.. it hides your mistakes in quilting as the stitches fall into the fleece..great stuff..

If I use fleece, I don't use batting. I make blankets that are flannel on one side, and fleece on the other. The fleece is the backing and a bigger piece so I can bring it over as the binding. I just pin the two fabrics together because they act like a magnet, they really stick together. No shedding, no lint problem.

I am with the rest of the ladies, as I always love to use fleece for a backing!!
