How to make mitered corners on piano key border?
I am at a loss trying to figure out how to do this. My piano key border is 4.5 inches. I thought it would look nice to do a mitered corner, but have spent all afternoon trying to figure it out. Anyone have an easy way to figure this out?

I would just make some strips a little bit wide and made 2 sets of HST. It will be much easier to piece. Hope this makes sense.

I make all the sections long enough to overlap at each corner, then fold and press the corner down. i like to glue baste it, then i pin and sew it, then trim off the extra after.
edit: i forgot to mention that i sew up to the 1/4 seam allowance and backstitch. then i do the fold/glue baste/sew/trim. |
I like this treatment for string borders. I think it looks just as nice as mitered.

DebraK and EasyPeesy, I like your ideas very much; thanks for sharing them with us.

Why not make the "mitered corner" as a block, then attach it like you would a sashing with cornerstones. No need to work with the long strip of piano keys.

ooh I like those ideas too...
