Well we've gone and done it. We're adding a basset puppy to our family. Friday I am traveling to Maryland to pick up 12 week old hopeful future champion - Rapscallion's Horizontal Merger call name Benjamin Button aka Benny. I can't wait. Ten year old Gracie Allen's nose will be out of joint until she realizes she now has 2 pack mates to boss around and nine year old Clyde Kadiddlehopper will moan that he's supposed to be the baby but hopefully they will all get along.

I think they are adorable but I just can't stand the drool. I just gag.

Good luck with bringing him in with his new mates. Doesn't look like he has much energy.

I've been lucky. My guys have all been fairly dry mouthed. Clyde occasionally will drool a bit if there's food involved. I have seen some bigtime droolers and I don't know if I could handle it.

Me too! There's a TV commercial where the dog shakes his head and the drool flies everywhere, the first time I saw that I almost hurled, now I turn my head when it comes on! Cute dog though!

Good luck!

Too cute. I love Bassett hounds.

I love those velvet ears. :) Not a big fan of drool but I think Newfies are worse. Also, I have a Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier that doesn't drool, but look out for that beard after he's had a drink of water!! :D

We've had as many as 5 hounds at a time and I used to foster until Moosie Bear who was our senior boy didn't seem to enjoy the fosters anymore. We always fostered the pups that came into rescue and for some reason they adored Moosie-him not so much once he became 10. Everyone got along well in the pack so hopefully they'll love Benny once they get to know him.
