Need ideas for 2" squares

Yesterday I bought thousands of little 2.5" squares at an estate sale of a quilter. Three pizza boxes with darks, mediums and lights. The number of darks and mediums appear to be the same but very few lights by comparison. This makes sense as the boxes were marked "for watercolor quilt". Since these are attractive but not the newest of fabrics, I am choosing not to turn them into a watercolor. How would you sew them? I think for fun I am going to count them (whew!) to calculate how large a piece they would make.

Thanks for any ideas and inspiration. ;-)

That's the same size as Moda Candy. Any of the Moda Candy patterns would go hand in hand with your pieces. There is a red booklet with 18 patterns in it, and also a blue booklet with 13 patterns in it. I've made 6 of the patterns and they're very easy patterns to make.

Here's a link to one of the booklets:

I've made 6 of the quilts from these 2 booklets, here are pictures of 2...

https://weddingdressblue.wordpress.c...-charms-quilt/ This is the link for a great quilt to make. I have made it with 2" and 2-1/2" squares. It looks very daunting but once you get into it and and follow the directions for making the sections it goes together rather fast. And you will feel real proud of yourself for finishing this one! There are other ideas on that website too!
Good luck with you project!!!

Also, check Bonnie Hunter's website: http://quiltville.blogspot.com/p/free-patterns.html. She has some free patterns for 2" squares.

How about the Bonnie Hunter "new scrappy trip around the world". It's on my to do list - and you sure would have a GREAT head start on one. Good luck with that wonderful find !!

If you are going to be making smaller projects, you could use the fusible gridded interfacing to save time and have nice even seams.

There is always a triple Irish chain that looks great with 2 1/2" scrappy squares.
