Christmas Challenge
My quilting guild has set a challenge to prepare a 12" square to represent a song for the others to guess its title. Have you any suggestions and of course instructions on how to go about it. With many thanks in advance.

How about "Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head" from the movie "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid". You could applique an umbrella and raindrops on your square.
Take it you are talking about a Christmas carol - well, Hark the Herald Angel, Little Town of Bethlehem spring to mind, I would make it up by using an applique method, find a nice picture to represent the song and use that as a guide.
The one that immediately spring to mind for me is "Star of Wonder". Of course, it helps that there is such a variety of star patterns out there.
Probably would be real easy to guess, but the first ones that came to mind were "Jingle Bells" and "Little Drummer Boy"
So many great songs have already been suggested. My personal favorite is "Go Tell It on the Mountain."
Ideas:
"Joy to the World" - That phrase stitched around a quilted globe. "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" - Santa in sleigh with background fabric a twinkling town "O Christmas Tree" - tree with presents under or carolers singing "Away in a Manger" - infant in manger Or, you could go slightly unconventional and do "Happy Birthday" :) There is a song with reference to this but I can't think of the name of it. |
Silver bells came to mind first.
Jingle bells comes to my mine. I think it should be a holiday song.
How about a blue tree block for Elvis' Blue Christmas?
