Easiest way to quilt Falling Charms
 

I am finishing a Falling Charms quilt. Very bright yellow with Kaffe Fassett blocks and aqua polka dot flannel back. What would be the easiest or simple way to machine quilt this quilt? I have never attempted to do this before so this will be scary for me. My friend says to decorative stitch down middle of yellow zig zag solids and x across the Kaffe Fassett blocks. The border around is 4 inches and yellow as well. [ATTACH=CONFIG]540122[/ATTACH]

Your friend's suggestion of an X in the print squares is not bad. You could try a kind of swirly design in the yellow strips, starting from where it meets the two print squares, swirl toward the opposite edge of the strip, and then back toward the endpoint of the strip. It makes a nice counterpoint to the geometric shape of the X. Just an idea.

sounds like a good plan, but please be sure and check the info on your batting package. That will tell you the farthest apart your quilting lines can be. Just double check that a single line of quilting down the zigzag will provide enough coverage. You don't want your beautiful quilt to get ruined the first time you launder it.
Also, did you prewash the flannel? Flannel shrinks a lot more than quilting cotton and could also pull your quilt out of square.

I have made several and I just did stitch in the ditch on the long seams both vertically and horizontally. Sorry for the squiggly lines. Hope this helps

I would crosshatch this quilt. You can space the lines out as wide as you want. I might just end up doing it on the Falling Charm quilt I am currently working on with pinks and oranges.

I did pre-wash the flannel. I appreciate all the great suggestions.

The batting states you can quilt up to 4 inches. So that means my quilting should be no more than 4 inches apart is that correct?
