Large lap sized quilt ideas for 5 year old girl

Hello everyone,

I am looking for a pattern to make a large lap-sized quilt for my 5 year old daughter. I want it to be a good size because I would like her to be able to wrap up in it and for it also to last quite a while. She loves dinosaurs and dragons, as well as dogs and most animals. Thanks!

The ideas for endless for that age group.

An Ispy quilt using all of the above fabrics and more.
Buying a panel with one of those themes and add borders to make it the required size.
Buy fabric of animals, cut it into small squares and add solids to make a Warm Wishes design or
Just do a "google" to get you started.

Have fun and please show us what you decide.

i agree. I would first look for the fabric of the things she adores and then there are so many easy patters such as D9P, Warm Wishes, Yellow Brick Road.

Warm wishes is a favorite one of mine. One I made that turned great was just 10 inch squares sewed together, borders added then quilted.

Have you seen the pattern Fancy Forest? It would be darling for an animal lover. I want to make one.

I love this dinosaur baby quilt but I don't thing it has to be a "baby" quilt. You could enlarge it with more borders. I love the little footprints on it & the prairie-point border. She will love anything you make with her favorite things.

I have made Box Squares at least a dozen times. You can use any fabric she likes. Puppies, or whatever. It's terrific!

You didn't say whether you want simple (that's my choice) or more advanced. For simple, I second the Warm Wishes with one or two feature fabrics and your stash. Another I liked doing is Falling Charms if you can find animal themed charm pack. Every child that passed through here liked a Carpenter Star with large triangles while it was on the design wall. I think a child that age is more taken by the feature prints and pretty colors than intricate patterns.
