Help with quilt

My mother in law bought these pieces of quilt at a flea market and we need help to identify the quilt or how it goes together. We think the round piece and the hump pieces make a flower but unsure = all help is very appreciated

Welcome to the board.
Looks like it would be a flower to me.

I think the double hump pieces go around the circle and the spikey pieces go around the double humps. (flower petals and leaves)

Maybe a variation of the Whig Rose pattern?

Maybe the rounded pieces go on 1 sides and the spikes go between them. Count your pieces and see if the are even counts

Sorry. Looking at the bottom edge of the spikes it looks like they should fit between and above the curved pieces as leaves.

Looks like it's an applique. Is there anything ironed on to the back of the fabric? The pieces would be ironed on to a piece of backing fabric. It looks like the pointy part fits into the indent in the other piece. The problem is these 2 fabrics are the same so this wouldn't show up at all. I'm wondering if there was a third fabric planned and the quilter didn't get it cut. The same 2 odd shapes would be cut from fabric #3, and then mixed in the block, so all rounded petals would be the same fabric, and the pointy ones would be the other.

Are there several of each piece that you can play around with. I have been known to cut quilt pieces from construction paper and play with them to get a look I like. Maybe you could try that with these pieces!

Are there just two pairs and the pink center or losts and lots of pieces .... One thought is that they are mirror image and if folded in the center and stitched and turned right side out, woujld form 3-D flower pieces. Other than that idea, no ideas at all LOL

You gals amaze me. I can't wait to see what all of your heads come up with. I will insert my guess -- and it is truly a guess. How about the heart-shaped piece against the circle (the flower). Then one of the curved sides on the pointy piece against the circle and the other curve agains the side of the heart-shape? Like a flower bud and a leaf. Could have two leaves- one on either side of the bud. Just a thought.
