Anyway I have seen many pictures on line but no patterns ..I would also like to add other things on the shelf so that its going to be personal can any one help ..thank you

They are also called Library Quilts. If you google either name + pattern, many sources come up.

I made one last year without a pattern. I looked at LOTS of pictures of bookcase quilts and decided on the ones I liked best, then just did sections similar to those. It really was fairly easy, but did take lots of different fabrics in small pieces. Just do it a section at a time. I have my top finished but don't know how to quilt it so it is still unfinished!

I've seen one somewhere on this site that used the selvedge edges of fabric for book spines.

Here's mine. Lap sized, I used some of a free paper-piecing pattern from Craftsy.com called The Project of Doom. As you can see, it's Harry Potter themed. I selected about half of the offered blocks to make this. The other blocks available are mostly books. You could leave out the HP themed bits and use the remaining blocks to do a books-only quilt instead. :o Cheers, Kate PS. Can you see the Invisible Book of Invisibility? :D |
There once was a pattern book for sale...I have it - somewhere. Sorry I don't know author, title, or if still available. I do remember each section of book stacks, appliqued whatever's are done separately as blocks, then the shelf edges are actually the sashings and border is the outside edge of the " bookcase". I was going to be really clever and embroidery book titles on the spines...still just an idea!
