Ladies,
A very good friend of mine just gave me a quilt that her grandmother made. It was made in the early 1900's. There looks to be NO wear on this quilt at all. There are 20 floral squares and the back of the quilt is white. I am so honored that she gave it to me. She said no one in her family would want it. Can you tell me the name of the pattern? Thanks! |
It is beautiful. Love the old fabrics. Beautifully quilted.

According to Brackman, it is called Friendship Dahlia. There was a similar pattern, unnamed published in 1847 (no stem, more petals). This is a lovely quilt. Thanks for sharing it.

Thanks for the name of it! Are the fabrics from their clothing? I don't know what the green and white would be from. All of the green matches and all of the white matches.

it's a beautiful quilt

I presume those would have been purchased but the petals are scraps from clothing. As I understand it, that was the usual way.
