Remember 87 and Still Quilting?

Last yr. I shared the story of my 87 yr. old cousin who had to move into a nursing home (same one my Dad resides in). She was and still is their only resident with a sewing machine in her room. She told me of her wish to make a quilt to use up the vintage embroidered blocks once gifted to her by an aunt. Well, she's now 88, survived quite a bad battle of pneumonia and long hospital stay, worked on getting her strength back, and finished the quilt.
Please excuse my photos. I popped into her room today when she was at activities, and I didn't feel I should straighten and remake the bed without her being present and asking her first. I hope I have her drive, energy and persistence when I'm her age! |
How touching! I hope to be quilting at 88 too! And what I really love about your post is that she was "out at activities"! Sounds like nothing is keeping her down--good for her!

She's my hero! Hope I am still quilting at 88. Pretty top!
You go girl!
If I make it to 88, I hope I am still creating as well as she is.
She's amazing, all right.
That is so sweet!
That's terrific! The quilt is so pretty and quite a testament to her energy and creativity. Thanks for being sneaky while she was "out at activities" and snapping these pictures. :)

It just goes to show you that age is a number and it is all about attitude. Her hobbies and activities are those things that keep her "young" and going.
How precious and I hope she blesses you with it in her will.
