Babylock prices
 

Does anyone know if Babylock lists their prices on their site? I am wondering about the Destiny II - even a ballpark figure would be good. I can't find any pricing in their information

I often check pricing on patternreview.com . The reviews contain the price that the reviewer actually paid for a machine, so I often get a more realistic idea than from the manufacturer's suggested retail price.

Babylock does not advertise their prices(unless it's a company authorized sale flyer), nor will a dealer give you a price over the phone. This is a strict rule from Babylock. They want you to walk into the dealer so they can sell you on a machine.

I won't buy a machine if the price is not listed online. A machine price to be secret is insulting. I will not go in person to find out. Even car dealers stopped that stupidness.

I agree with onebyone....sounds like pressure selling to me........but must work for the company....

If I don't have any idea of what the price is - I don't want to be embarrassed to find out that it is way more than I could possibly afford.

Or is their theory "If you have to ask how much it costs, you can't afford it." ?

I guess sewing machines are no different than so many other things-they just want to get you in their place of business so they can twist your arm and convince you that you need more than you want and pay more than you want to pay. I refuse to be drawn in and usually go in with a page that reflects my thinking. I say that I have a specific amount of money to spend and ask what they do within those parameters. I learned to steer clear of dealers who have a variety of brands because they push those whose manufacturers give them added incentatives for selling the product. I refuse to be drawn in.

For some of us, getting to a dealership is a major expedition.

It seems that younger people in particular (and middle aged people like myself) are more and more using their phones and PC's for shopping - I wonder if sew-ing ma-chine dealers/manufacturers will start putting their prices online in order to capture that business. I can imagine a lot of people would simply pass on to another dealer/maker if they can't find prices online.

I wish this were completely true. Last time I shopped for a car there were still dealers who wouldn't give me prices in email. One of them wouldn't even give me a price while I was in the dealership (it was a truly bizarre experience and totally frustrating). I didn't buy from them but they're still out there.
