Cuddle vs minky
Can anyone comment on what the difference is between minky and cuddle fabric? is cuddle a better brand than what is available at big box fabric stores? Tia

I think the original manufacturer of this type of fabric was Benartex. Their product is called Minkee Blankee. I think Shannon's brand name is Cuddle. I think those 2 brands are the LQS quality.

Shannon Cuddle is pretty awesome! I remember Benartex Minkee, but the price was higher than the Shannon.
You can buy "Minky" at JoAnn's but it can be so stretchy, that it's really hard to work with. |
They all make a terrible mess. And as a longarm quilter I couldn’t see much difference in them as backing.
|
I would say a good 50% of the quilters where I work are using the 90" wide minky for quilt backs. The quilting designs show up beautifully on the back.
If you roll the minky in your dryer on a cool setting, it removes the lint. Minky is only naughty when you cut it. |
