What does this mean?
 

I've heard of the expression, "Hang that puppy up", but yesterday someone actually said it to me. I do not know the meaning.

I posted on Facebook that I found nice treasures at an early morning estate sale. My oldest daughter (out of state) can be critical of my thrifting although she equally enjoys it. She replied to my post with that expression.

Does it mean she is applauding my fun experience, Or stop going to those, etc. How would you take it?

I'd ask her. I can see how it could go either way if she is occasionally critical of your thrifting. On first read, though, my interpretation is, "Show it off" (if she was referring to a certain item you bought, instead of the lot).

I'd hate to think of what it originally meant!! we do pass sayings down that come to mean different things. interesting to see the first meaning.

To me, it means it's time to stop doing what you're doing. BTW, it's none of her business. We all have things that make us happy that don't appeal to others.
As a dog lover, I don't care for that expression.

That's a negative comment and what you do is your business!

From what I imagine and found on google, it means to display and enjoy something.

I've lived in different parts of the world and been exposed to many different people and it can be taken either way. The best thing would be to just ask her what she meant.

exactly..plain English, not a euphemism...I think that's the correct term!

I would convince myself that she meant it in the nicest way and go accordingly!
