Shampoo for Greying Hair

I seem to remember that there was a shampoo that was formulated for grey or greying hair to make the grey softer and more vibrant. I am "quickly" going grey (I still think of myself as having light brown hair, but the motor vehicle department tells me I am grey! LOL), but my hair looks "mousey". I am looking for a shampoo that would make my hair almost look frosted - the greys more vibrant. I am not explaining this well, at all. Hope someone can figure out what I am trying to say! Thanks for your help.

Have you checked CVS or Walgreen's? Places like that may have what you want. I seem to remember hearing about it but it was awhile back. My hair is really dark and I have to hide the grey. It looks awful if I don't :)

I used to be a "bottle blonde" but stopped coloring my hair about 15 years ago. DH likes me "au natural"....hehehe hair color wise that is! :o

Ask your beautician for recommendations

I don't use shampoo at all anymore; it made my scalp itch. I use just conditioner in the shower. Someone on the QB recommended Shikai Color Reflect conditioner, and I like it a lot:

My scalp itches, too, so my beautician told me to avoid shampoo with Sulphur or its derivatives. Some conditioners also contain it. I will have to try washing with just conditioner - thanks for the suggestion.

I use the shampoo Shimmering Lights from Sally’s beauty supply. Cuts the yellow and makes my hair shine.

Shimmer Lights is what I use also. I get mine at Sally and it works great.

I am totally gray and have been for quite a long time. My first gray appeared while I was still in high school. I did the coloring thing for a long time, then just gave up and learned to enjoy the gift I had been given. I used a product by Pantene but they no longer make the product. My hairdresser recommended a shampoo called Pravana. I comes from a shop for those in the haircare profession. It is a little pricey but a bottle lasts for nearly a year. You only use it once a week. This shampoo is shockingly dark purple but it does not change the color of your hair purple. Rather it helps remove that "yellow" look that comes from the minerals in our water. Remember the jokes about bluehaired ladies? Well this is an updated version of our great-grandmother's "bluing" to make gray more silver or pure white.

I have longer that shoulder length gray hair the stays gray/white rather than yellowed dull. I have used it for.....at least 6 years and am pleased. So, Pravana is my suggestion. Love my gray!

Years back, L'Oreal made a hair color for gray or white haired ladies. In my area this lasted only a couple of months before it was removed from the market. Wish they would bring it back again.
