I love strip piecing and have done several strip quilts. Try Bonnie Hunter's site; I think it's called Quiltville.com. She has lots and lots of free patterns on her site. I also did a crazy quilt that turned out to be my favorite. It was done with strips and cut to size.

This is Strip Twist, a free pattern from Bonnie Hunter's blog, Quiltville. It's easy and always looks great. It appears to be set on point, but it's not!

Love your quilt Sash-I just purchased the Creative Grid ruler to make a crazy quilt. I am anxious to try it but have a few projects to finish before I start another one. Sewbizgirl-your quilt is so pretty and I have seen it before and still love the design. Yours is so pretty with the different fabrics. I love to look over Bonnie Hunter's patterns. She has so many ideas of what to do with scraps.

For me the concept of "strip piecing" is a modern sewing technique now that we have rotary cutters, rulers and sewing machines. Anytime I start out by taking two or more strips, sew them together, and then cut them into units I'm doing strip piecing.

So basically any Seminole piecing design is strip piecing to me, 9-patches are strip piecing, etc. You look at just about any block designed on a grid and I have a place to do strip piecing.

Here are some blocks I've been working on. It's a lot of fun.

I consider Rail Fence type quilts to be strip piecing. I did two similar ones for grandsons being deployed in the military.
