Needle Size for Paper Piecing

I'm going to try the paper piecing method using freezer paper. Since I won't be sewing through the paper, should I use a size 80/12 needle instead of a 90/14? Which size do you use?

I use a Microtex Sharp (either 70 or 80) for all my piecing including paper piecing.

I don't think it makes a difference with regards to paper piecing, just make sure it matches the thread you're using.

i usually use a 75/11 for piecing of any type.
what will make the most difference for paper piecing is to:
- use a smaller than normal stitch size. do make sure you can get the tip of a stitch picker (what others call a seam ripper) under the stitch in case you need to un-sew.
-use the thinnest paper you can. newsprint is great for paper piecing. you can buy pads of it for a low price in the kids' arts & crafts section of most stores.

Things are working well here with a 75/11 Needle using Aurifil thread and about 15 spi. Thanks for your help.

Paper piecing using the freezer paper method is the best. Mr. Domestic has an awesome tutorial on Youtube, it's where I first saw it and tried a few blocks, and fell in love. I use either an 80/12 or 90/14 needle for piecing.
