New to quilting, do's and don'ts!!
Hi all, I've recently discovered a love for quilting after buying a very small sewing machine a few months ago. As I am so new to this, I am unsure of the do's and don'ts when it comes to posting little things I have made. I like to look at tutorials online and re-create. Is it ok to post items I have made using these tutorials? I have used a couple of free patterns but haven't posted those projects yet. I've also bought a quilt pattern which I will be posting in the future. I will stress that this is a hobby not a business and i would hate to upset anyone. Thank you in advance.
Happy Quilter 😁☘ |

Welcome from Tennessee. You can post anything you made. Whether from a kit, pattern or your own design. As long as you made it we want to see it.

Happy Quilter! I’m so glad you enjoy quilting! It’s a wonderful work that will keep your mind sharp and I find it improves my outlook in life. I’m anxious to see your projects! Welcome to the group!

You made it - you can post it. If its from a free pattern or tutorial, the honorable thing would be to also post a link to your source material.

We love seeing projects by our members. Post away!! :)
Welcome to the board. |
Joining in on the welcome and that we love pictures here! As long as it is your own work/photo you can post it even if someone else designed it. It's nice when you attribute it if there is a source. The help section has some great threads on posting pictures, our boards just changed formats and I think most issues have been discovered.
The moderators here are good at copyright issues and there are a couple of people here (not just me) who just find the whole subject fascinating. Although I worked most of my career primarily with engineers, I started out in advertising and had a lot of stuff to learn about trademarks and such. We have some threads on the subject and it is always interesting to hear both sides, because there are always at least two sides to every argument. |
