I am a Quilter, but got started collecting old Trestle Sewing machines, fixing them up so they work!!! Most are gummed up or Rusty and stuck!! My Latest appears to be a Trusew, it was stuck and got it cleaned up and Working, but seems to be missing parts on the Top Thred tensioner!! Any information on how it works..

Welcome to the Quilting Board. I have a Singer 340 built in 1955 and a Kenmore 158 built in 1972 and I love both of them. I also have newer Janome sewing and embroidery machines but when I want to straight stitch you can't beat the older Singer. I hope you enjoy the Board. I have learned so much from this web site.

Welcome from South Louisiana. I can't help you with machine questions but there is a strong group of restorer's on this board that probably can.

I'm guessing from your description, that you may have a badged treadle machine perhaps made by National with a top leaf tension. Many early manufacturers made machines with a top leaf tension. The would sell them to different entities that would put whatever name they wanted on the machine. The different manufacturers would use similar, but slightly different leaf tensions, which will help identify who actually made the machine.

I have found that only the big red "Reply" button or "Quote" works to give me the paper clip icon to work for adding pictures. Some have had success with clicking on "Go Advanced" and "Manage Attachments."
