Kansas Troubles Log Cabin
2 Attachment(s)
I just finished this last night - mostly Kansas Troubles in 1½" strips. Had to add a few from different lines in the cream sections.
I bought a pattern years ago for a miniature called "Spinning Wheels," and I modeled this one on that pattern. I have had it in EQ since EQ6 - next month will be ten years, but I finally cut it and pieced it in the last couple of weeks. I'm sending it off for longarming tomorrow, so it'll be a while before it's finished. I plan to put several borders on it and sprinkle the widest border with appliqued flowers and leaves. |
That is pretty. Love the layout

I had one patch that stuck out like a sore thumb in half the blocks - I started the brown section with a fabric that should have gone with the tans.
I recolored that patch on all fifty blocks with Fabrico markers - the brown marker by itself turned out too red, so I used a layer of pine green first, to tone down the reddish look, then put espresso brown over the green. Some of them got several layers. I used a really light touch, but you can be as bold with these markers as you want to. |
Super! Combines two of my favorites; reproduction fabrics and log cabin blocks. Hope your keeping that one :-)

Thank you. Yes, it's the first quilt I've made for us. I ordered the fabric to make matching curtains and pillow cases, too. :)

Lovely! And oh so clever, the other options were to leave it or remove it. I like your way!

This is a beautiful Log Cabin layout. You did great with the colors too.

Lovely top!

Thank you all! And oksewglad, you are right! I was NOT going to unsew all those sore thumbs! :D
I really, really, really love this top. Just took it to the Pack and Ship - and now, I wait. :D Nah..... no waiting around... I cut out the pieces for 15 cork business card holders and I think I'm going to start repairing my grandmother's poly knit quilt right after those are done. But I will do that on the machine, rather than hand-stitching, as my grandmother did. Can't wait to get that one completed - it's as pretty as the prettiest Easter basket I've ever seen. :) |
Love it, PP. What a beautiful log cabin.
