I went to a quilt show on quilts that were made for our returning troops today. They were just beautiful. There was one quilt I really liked and I was told it was a Disappearing Nine Patch. Does anyone know where I can find this pattern? I think it is a really nice looking quilt.

I do not know where the pattern can be found but it is very easy. All you do is make a nine patch block any size you want, I usually cut the squares 4 1/2 inch in size. Use two colors an alternate them. Like Red-white-red, Next row would be White-red-white, the last row would be Red-white-red. After you have sewn these take the block and cut it thru the middle both ways. Then rearrange two of the squares on opposite corners and you have the DP9P.

That sounds fun, I might have to try this! You cut across and down, right? Not on the diagonal?

just cut the ninepatch in four quarters and then turn the quarters.
I am working on that one for my son |

If you do a search on this board, there's a couple of posts where people showed how they cut their blocks... I can't remember right now who they were! :(
The progressive pictures really helped me when I made one! I also remember someone mentioned to make sure your precise in your cutting, when you cut the blocks apart. :) |
