Can you make a lap quilt with one or is it not enough? Are there any nice patterns anywhere?

Funny you should ask. I just printed a free pattern today from:
www.cleverquilter.com

Also try the Moda Bake Shop.

Enjoy

Do we have a glossary around here? :)

Not sure what's meant by a "layer cake" in this context.

A layer cake is a pack of 10 inch squares from a fabric collection. Each square is a different fabric pattern in the collection. As used in a sentence - I would love to buy the Bar Harbor layer cake at the LQS. It sells for $37.

Thanks. You do get the occasional bewildered novice in these parts. ;)

I'm following rachel (of p.s. i quilt) for her pinwheel sampler quilt-along

http://www.psiquilt.com/2010/01/pinw...ilt-along.html

It's really cute -- I'm using "Love is in the Air"

=)

Thanks for the suggestions! I printed off a couple of the moda patterns. The Rachel pattern seems really nice, but I'm afraid it would be too hard for me (a super beginner) to follow.

I'm a super beginner too!

This pinwheel sampler is the first time I'm doing anything that requires something other than a straight square or a straight strip!

Her directions are INCREDIBLE -- my first block and the points matched up perfectly!!!

I started a thread for the sampler somewhere. I'm going to take pics and post them on that tomorrow... (i hope)
